Not so long time ago one scientist, Eliyahu Rips, published an interesting paper about Bible Code (or Torah code). He noticed that in Torah was encoded a word Torah (in Hebrew). He took the the first letter "t" of the chapter, then counted fifty letters (with skips) and found "o". After repeating this procedure two more times he found other letters (the distance between them was fiifty letters so they were called equidistant letters - ELS)Moreover the First and the Second Book of Genesis also contained different messages.
Rips offered an algorithm for doing this:
1. Find names and dates in ELSs
2. For each name-date pair find the "tightest" display
3. Calculate name-date distance in this display
4. Obtain set of distances (there can be more than one for each pair)
5. Are they "remarkably" close?
For checking if this algorithm was appropriate was offered a permutation test (by Persi):
Make for about 1 million lists of personalities (with the same characteristics) and find the best one. This test is founded on Statistical Analysis.
Today this paper (containing predictive information) is offered to analysts as "Challenging puzzle".
Товарищи. Я, конечно. все понимаю. Но после четырех часов сна ставить первой парой миниконференцию с докладами по экономике, налогообложению, теории вероятности и статистическому анализу на английском... При том, что летом язык никто не вспоминал. А докладчики еще не нэйтив спикеры. Если про библейский код я еще хоть что-то уловила, то про экономическую психологию и социологию налогообложения я не поняла ни хрена. У докладчика-немца был ужасный акцент и слушать его не представлялось возможным. Поэтому я писала письмо мальчику в Америку
